We are a production company who develops fictional audiovisual content, our interdisciplinary team has a vast expertice in the creation, writing, adaptation and production of content for TV and Film in genres such as drama, action, adventure, suspense and comedy, with emphasizing themes and counter-narratives that exalt the diverse ways of being of Afro-Caribbean lives.
Today there are around 380 million people of African descent in the Americas, and very little content is produced for these audiences, especially in Latin America and the Caribbean. We not only bring stories to tell, but an audience to discover and explore.
LA NIÑA EMLILA, DÉJALA MORIR (2017)
Drama bio-series of 10/30 minute episodes telling the life and work of the popular Afro-Caribbean bullerengue singer, La Niña Emilia, singer-songwriter of unforgettable songs such as Coconcoro, Cundé-Cundé, Currucuchú, among others.
The series achieved two nominations for TV and Novel awards, and seventeen India Catalina awards; winning thirteen India Catalina awards in 2018.
LA NIÑA EMLILA, DÉJALA MORIR (2017)
Bioserie de drama de 10 X 30″ caps que trata la vida y obra de la popular cantadora de bullerengue AfroCaribeña, La Niña Emilia, cantautora de temas inolvidables como Coconcoro, Cundé-Cundé, Currucuchú, entre otros.
La serie logró dos nominaciones a premios TV y Novela, y diecisiete premios India Catalina; ganándose trece premios India Catalina en 2018.
DON'T GIVE UP, THE RAIZAL PARADISE (2020)
Suspense/paranormal miniseries of 4 30-minute episodes that address the problems faced by young people from the remote archipelago of San Andrés Islas (Colombia), regarding their relationship with the Colombian government, their life opportunities, and drug trafficking.
The series was nominated for two India Catalina Awards and winner of the “Caribbean Media Award” (2020) for best drama series, awarded by the Caribbean Broadcast Union, Barbados.

Founder of Pilas Colombia, Publicist with studies in Experimental Cinema (SUNY/Buffalo), Human Rights (IIDH), Economic Development (EGAT/USA) and Leadership for Development (GWU/USA). Master in Current Democracies (UPF/Barcelona). Expert in diversity and inclusion and ethnic affairs. Edwin has been working for the development and positive visibility of NARP communities for more than twenty-five years, the creation of audiovisual content for TV and cinema is the most effective of all.

Alessandro Basile
With studies at The New York Film Academy, he produced and directed more than five independent films. He was vice president of production at RCN Televisión, where he worked for more than fifteen years, being responsible for more than twenty successful productions in his corporate life. Alex has been part of Pilas Colombia since 2017 as director and creative consultant for audiovisual content. In 2018, he was awarded the India Catalina Award for Best Director for the series “La Niña Emilia, Déjala Morir”.

Fundador de Pilas Colombia, Publicista con estudios en Cine Experimental (SUNY/Buffalo), Derechos Humanos (IIDH), Desarrollo Económico (EGAT/USA) y Liderazgo para el Desarrollo (GWU/USA). Máster en Democracias Actuales (UPF/Barcelona). Experto en diversidad e inclusión y asuntos étnicos. Edwin ha venido trabajando por el desarrollo y visibilización positiva de las comunidades NARP por más de veinticinco años, la creación de contenidos audiovisuales para TV y cine es la más efectiva de todas.

Con estudios en The New York Film Academy, produjo y dirigió más de cinco películas independientes, fue vicepresidente de producción de RCN Televisión, donde trabajó por más de quince años, siendo responsable de más de veinte producciones exitosas en su vida corporativa. Alex es parte del Pilas Colombia desde 2017 como director y consultor creativo para contenidos audiovisuales. En 2018, fue galardonado con el premio India Catalina como Mejor Director por la serie “La Niña Emilia, Déjala Morir”.

Ramsés Ramos
TV, Theater and Film actor for more than 30 years; instructor and director of actors, he has been in more than twenty television projects, thirty-five plays and ten films in Colombia and Italy. He has won the Momento Magazine award for Best Actor of the year 2011 and was recently awarded the India Catalina award for best supporting actor for his work in the series, “La Niña Emilia, Déjala Morir.”

Íos Fernández
Professional in linguistics and literature with training in theater. He worked as a researcher and librettist for the RCN channel and transmedia scriptwriter for Signal Colombia. He has been a university professor of film and television scriptwriting. He has written and directed the short films Noli and Grooming. The creator of the Creativity, Cooperation and Fiction course. He has adapted the series “El Secreto de la Escafandra” and “El Tesoro de Santa Anna” to the series format for Pilas Colombia.

Ramsés Ramos
Actor de TV, Teatro y Cine por más de 30 años; instructor y director de actores, ha estado en más de veinte proyectos de televisión, treinta y cinco obras de teatro y diez películas en Colombia e Italia. Ha sido ganador del premio de la Revista Momento como Mejor Actor del año 2011 y recientemente fue galardonado con el premio India Catalina, como mejor actor de reparto por su trabajo en la serie, “La Niña Emilia, Déjala Morir”.

Íos Fernández
Profesional en lingüística y literatura con formación en teatro. Trabajó como investigador y libretista para el canal RCN y guionista transmedia para Señal Colombia. Ha sido docente universitario de guión de cine y televisión. Ha escrito y dirigido los cortometrajes Noli y Grooming. Creador del curso Creatividad, Cooperación y Ficción. Ha adaptado al formato series, “El Secreto de la Escafandra” y “El Tesoro de Santa Anna”, para Pilas Colombia.

Yurieth Romero
Film and TV director and Master’s student in Cultural Management and Audiovisual Production. She has co-written the miniseries “Ciudad de los Fantasmas” and “Súper Mangle”. She was co-writer of the series, “La Niña Emilia, Déjala Morir,” winner of the India Catalina award in 2018 for best script. She has been co-writer of other series such as “Do n’t Give-Up”, “La Caótica Mey” and “Gesta de Libertad”. She recently was part of the creation and writing team of the series “Moonshine Dolly” by Pilas Colombia.

He studied Film and Television with an emphasis on film photography at the New York Film Academy; Canon/B and H Filmmaker’s Workshop with Bruce Dorn and Vincent Laforet; and HDSLR Cinema Workshop with Shane Hurlbut. Additionally, Rubén has worked for large companies such as: National Geographic, Fox Channel, Vice Media LLC, Discovery Channel, Netflix and Signal Colombia. Rubén recently won a double India Catalina as Best Photographer and Best Photography for his work in the series La Niña Emilia

Realizadora de cine y TV y estudiante de Maestría en Gestión Cultural y Producción Audiovisual. Ha coescrito las miniseries “Ciudad de los Fantasmas” y “Súper Mangle”. Fue coguionista de la serie, “La Niña Emilia, Déjala Morir” ganadora del premio India Catalina en 2018 por mejor libreto. Ha sido coguionista de otras series como “Don’t Give-Up”, “La Caótica Mey” y “Gesta de Libertad”. Recientemente hizo parte del equipo de creación y escritura de la serie “Moonshine Dolly” de Pilas Colombia.

He co-directed and co-produced “El Corral”, official selection of the Oberhausen International Short Film Festival, Entrevues Belfort, ZINEBI, La MIDBO, among others. He won the FEISAL award at the Havana Film Festival in 2019 and special mention from the Jury at the Colombian Film Festival in New York. Invited to the Production Workshop of the Malaga Film Festival 2020 —Málaga Talents and Talents de Buenos Aires 2021. He has adapted the novel “El Silencio de la Escafandra” to series format for Pilas Colombia.

Professional in film and audiovisual production from the University of Magdalena, his detail orientation as a sound engineer and sound designer has allowed him to acquire valuable experiences through a wide range of film, television and audiovisual projects in general. Each project is an opportunity to improve technical and creative capabilities, helping to capture and transform all sound material into a professional production.

Invitado al Taller de producción del Festival de Cine de Málaga 2020 —Málaga Talents y Talents de Buenos Aires 2021. Ha adaptado al formato de serie, la novela “El Silencio de la Escafandra” para Pilas Colombia.

Profesional en realización de cine y audiovisuales de la Universidad del Magdalena, su orientación al detalle como sonidista y diseñador de sonido le ha permitido adquirir experiencias valiosas mediante una amplia gama de proyectos cinematográficos, televisivos y audiovisuales en general. Cada proyecto es una oportunidad para mejorar las capacidades técnicas y creativos, ayudando a capturar y transformar todo el material sonoro en una producción profesional.

Graduated from the California State University Northridge (CSUN) Film School in the United States. Assistant director and screenwriter for the Univision television series “Una Palabra” & “7 Minutos”, director of the short film “Not a Monster”, script supervisor for the feature film Meathook, and director and writer of the short film “Aqui me quedo !”. He has recently adapted the series project “Los del Otro Lado” for Pilas Colombia to film format.
